Not because I'd lost the thread — because life filled every window I thought I had. Work. Responsibilities. The endless list of things that needed doing before I could do the thing I actually wanted to do. And somewhere in that gap, my altar would go quiet. The candles would sit unlit. I'd tell myself I'd do something intentional when I had a real moment — and the moment rarely came.

I knew I wasn't alone in that. Most practitioners I've talked to carry some version of the same weight: the quiet guilt of a practice that keeps getting postponed. The feeling that ritual belongs in a cleared schedule, a dedicated space, a version of your life that isn't this busy one.

And then one day I looked at my shower — the one thing I actually do every single day, no matter what — and thought:

I started making soap the way most self-taught makers do: obsessively, imperfectly, by watching YouTube at midnight and starting batches over from scratch. I'd been teaching myself herbalism, aromatherapy, and cold process soap-making for years. The craft was already in me. I just hadn't connected it to something daily.

When I did — I started pouring batches by choosing botanicals for their skin benefits and their history in spellcrafting, setting intentions over each one the way I'd set an intention over any working — my shower became my most consistent ritual. The one thing I didn't have to schedule. The one practice that always happened, even on the hardest days.
